Here are two of my favorite images from a personal project I’ve been working on since February 5th of this year. I started photographing people in my community–some of whom I’ve know for more than 10 years. I’ve experienced a vibrant range of life with these beautiful people and there is still so much I have yet to learn about each of them. There is so much depth the average person might miss; sides to them that might not have much opportunity to be shared in the dizzying pace of daily life. It’s this hidden aspect of the person I’m interested in seeing represented on film. For example, my friend Denise has a love for the Russian people and their culture; she’s learned the language, lived there and visited several times since, and developed many beautiful and significant relationships. And Stephen is a brilliant intellectual who is more at home in the great outdoors than in the confines of a university.
I’m making this post today because I’m finally able to deliver the finished prints, which makes it a little more like a Christmas gift. Thanks to all who were a part of this; I love you all very, very much and I wish you a very, very Merry Christmas!
